In June 2021, A data released by the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 136 million people live in trachoma endemic areas.
Keratitis is the inflammation of the cornea. The cornea is the clear outer tissue layer on the front of the eye. Keratitis is a potentially vision threatening condition. It is also a Public Health problem which requires prompt diagnosis. About 2million cases of corneal ulcers are reported every year in developing countries.
Conjunctivitis is the infection of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is a tiny layer of tissue that covers the white of the eyes and insides of the eyelids. Conjuctivitis is the most common eye condition in primary Healthcare centres.
This is an inflammation of the eyelid which affects the eyelids or tear production. It commonly occurs when the tiny oil glands of the inner eyelid become inflamed. It is not contagious and does not cause any lasting damage to the eyes. Meanwhile, it is tough to treat.
